Legend has it that a long time ago, the people of Umbrian vehicles, a population that inhabited the Tiber River valley, was building a city. One day, while the construction work continued, an eagle descended among these people, grabbed a cloth with its claws and took it to the top of a hill. The people who witnessed the scene are interpreted as the divine signal that the city was not built as life is building at that moment, but on that hill.

The importance of this city in past eras makes it even among the most important in Italy. In fact Orvieto , city-state of Etruscan origin very important then conquered by the Romans, was in the Middle Ages the most important city of Central Italy after Rome, on some occasions even more important than the latter. In fact there were many popes who stayed in this city because they considered it the natural heir, for importance, of the city of Rome, seat of the papacy. In fact, great historical-religious events happened here: Pope Innocent III from the pulpits of the church of Sant'Andrea had proclaimed the Fourth Crusade; in 1281, in the same church, in the presence of Charles I of Anjou, was elevated to the papacy Pope Martin IV and, in 1297, in the church of San Francesco, was the canonization of Louis IX of France, pope Boniface VIII. Orvieto is also famous for its palaces, monuments and churches of great beauty and enormous historical importance, such as the famous Domus: There are no words to describe it, just think that it started in 1290 and was finally completed in 1591, it is a work of Gothic architecture among the most important in Italy in the genre and among the most famous and wonderful places of worship in the country. Think of Orvieto Villas on one of these hills around the city, think about when in the late afternoon you will find yourself admiring the splendid views of Umbria that you can see from here, with the city and the golden color of the illuminated Cathedral mosaics from the setting sun, making the whole atmosphere exciting and certainly unique. Umbria villas in Orvieto will surely be your greatest pride and a pearl of such beauty that has no equal in the world.
